RULES
The Hungerford Club
The Tennis Club is a section of The Hungerford Club. Adults joining the Tennis Club automatically become members of The Hungerford Club and part of the adult subscription is for membership of The Hungerford Club whose rules must be complied with. In order to find out more about The Hungerford Club and its amenities, new members will be invited to meet representatives of the Club on joining.
Juniors under 17 are not eligible to join The Hungerford Club, but are allowed entry under the rules laid down by The Hungerford Club rule book.
The Tennis Section
1. Subscriptions
Tennis Section subscriptions are determined by the Tennis Club committee and are due for payment on 1st April in every year, including The Hungerford Club subscription. Upon payment of the appropriate subscription, members will be issued with a membership card and informed of the combination number of the padlocks securing the tennis courts and changing rooms. On no account should this number be revealed to anyone else.
2. Junior Members
There are some restrictions on the use of courts by Junior members; see 3 below for details.
In certain circumstances, Junior members may, at the discretion of the committee, be granted the playing privileges of Seniors (an extra fee may be required in this event).
3. Court Reservation
A court reservation system is operational. Booking forms are pinned to the notice board at the pavilion and courts may be reserved up to one week in advance. Only one 60 / 90 minute period may be booked for any session. Courts cannot be reserved when coaching, league matches, etc., are taking place (these will be shown on the booking forms) or at times of Club play Wednesday evenings from 6.00pm and Sunday afternoons from 3.00pm to 6.00 pm (2.00pm until dusk in winter). If two courts are required for a club match, courts 1 and 2 will be used and if three courts are required, 1, 2 and 3 will be used.
JUNIORS may only reserve courts for the following times:
Monday to Friday All courts up to 6.00pm
Court 4 from 6.00pm to dusk
Saturday All courts up to 12.30pm
Courts 3 & 4 from 12.30pm to dusk
Sunday Courts 3 & 4 up to 1.30pm
Juniors may not reserve any other court outside these times, although they may play on any court which is not being used, but MUST give way to Seniors on request.
4. Guest Players
Members may play with guests, subject to the following conditions:
a) Guests may only play in the company of a fully paid up member;
b) A member with guests may not occupy more than one court;
c) A guest may only play a maximum of THREE TIMES in any one year;
d) A fee of £2.00 per adult guest per occasion is payable;
e) A fee of £0.50 per junior guest per occasion is payable;
f) The member present shall be responsible for the behaviour of his / her guest and must ensure that the guests name is entered in one of the visitors books to be found in the changing rooms.
5. Coaching
The Tennis Club has appointed a professional LTA qualified coach and all coaching at the Club must be arranged through that coach.
6. Clothing and Conduct
Tennis clothes and non-marking tennis shoes (NOT TRAINERS) must be worn on the courts. Coloured sweaters and track suits are permissible.
Any tennis committee members has the authoritiy to question doubtful behaviour and request sight of a membership card, which should always be carried on club premises.
7. Committee
a) The Tennis Committee shall consist of a minimum of eight senior members to be elected at The Annual General Meeting each year. The committee shall consist of a Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, Membership Secretary, plus four or more members who may, if required, hold other offices. The committee may set up sub-committees as deemed desirable, at any time.
b) The Tennis Committee quorum shall be five members.
c) A committee member not present at three consecutive meetings without good reason will be deemed to have resigned from the committee.
8. Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of the Tennis Section to be held not later than nine months after the end of each financial year.
9. Audit
Tennis Section accounts to be passed to The Hungerford Club for annual audit.
